Research Interests

The main field of my research is the investigation of the dynamics that develop in various combustion phenomena, with the purpose of acquiring the relevant physical understanding regarding  ignition and emissions control, identification of the flame front etc.. The approach used is the Computational Singular Perturbation (CSP), an algorithmic method that was firstly introduced by Lam and Goussis (1989), the validity of which has been tested in a large variety of problems that relate to combustion, biological systems etc. My work addresses a range of combustion configurations; i.e., from simple homogeneous autoignition to turbulent DNS. Finally, my research involves the use of CSP for the generation of simplified (skeletal) and reduced chemical kinetics mechanisms of large and complex models.
